Wesley Square is a proposed mixed-use development in the University District in Seattle. The 16,480 square foot surface parking lot will be transformed into new rental housing, shops, offices and parking, contributing additional vitality to this important urban neighborhood.

The site is located on the corner of 15th Avenue NE and NE 42nd Street, across the street from the University of Washington campus and one-half block from the Ave’s shops and restaurants.

Unico’s vision is to re-establish residential use on the site, creating a mixed-use building that adds vitality to the University District neighborhood, enhances the 42nd Street gateway to the University of Washington campus, and embraces the vision of the University Community Urban Center Plan.

In the late 1960’s, Wesley House (a female students’ residence) was demolished and replaced with a 58-stall asphalt parking lot. Wesley Square will re-establish the residential use of the property, blending three floors of rental apartments, one floor of street level shops, plus two floors of office space. There will be approximately 85 stalls of publicly available underground parking.

Unico believes design collaboration with its University District neighbors will result in a unique and special place where residents and guests support local merchants and social services, benefiting the community and acting as a catalyst for positive change in the neighborhood:

  • Pedestrian friendly
  • Support adjacent uses: Hourly and short term parking, minimize construction impact, link UW and the Ave.
  • Respect adjacent buildings: Massing, scale, character, finishes and details
  • Social & environmental responsibility: Affordable housing, support existing social services, and sustainable / green development
