Unico’s office properties are tracking energy usage and 10 Class A office properties have earned ENERGY STAR® awards for their energy leadership and efficiencies.

  • 100 Pine Street, San Francisco
  • Bank of America Financial Center, Spokane
  • Centerpoint II, Denver
  • IBM Building, Seattle
  • Key Center, Bellevue
  • Puget Sound Plaza, Seattle
  • Skinner Building, Seattle
  • Skyline Tower, Bellevue
  • U.S. Bancorp Tower, Portland
  • US Bank Plaza, Boise

Achieving ENERGY STAR requires that managers and building engineers are trained to ensure that mechanical equipment is operating as designed to extend its life and to be cost efficient. In 2009, the Metropolitan Tract team received the Kilowatt Cup from BetterBricks / BOMA Seattle, awarded for superior achievement in energy management, overcoming unique obstacles and emphasizing energy efficiency through no- and low-cost practices.

"Success in energy performance requires an entire organization's commitment. The Unico team is a great example, and their leadership and strategic view of energy management is raising the bar for the commercial real estate industry."

Additionally, Unico endorses the BOMA International 7-Point Challenge and is working to reduce energy usage by 30 percent by 2012, as compared to an average national portfolio.

Certain Unico buildings are using renewable energy credits by purchasing wind, solar, geothermal, or biomass energy from their local utility. Centerpoint II in Denver and US Bank Plaza in Boise purchase renewable energy as 15 percent of their total energy consumption and Key Center and Skyline Tower in Bellevue each purchase at least 25 percent of the building’s energy through renewable sources.
